Why I'm Doing This
Dec 15, 2025
The personal, the political, and the 2008 financial crisis.
I was in my teens and early twenties during the 2008 financial crisis. I was old enough to understand the mechanics of the collapse, but young enough to be powerless. I watched as policy decisions were made that would shape the economic reality of the next two decades. I was a spectator.
I promised myself that when the next historical inflection point arrived, I would not be a spectator. I would be credentialed, connected, and positioned to act.
The Inflection Point
The Authentication Cliff is that moment. It is less spectacular than the "superintelligence" narratives, but it is more immediate. The decisions being made right now—in state houses and standards bodies—will determine whether the future is one of total surveillance or protected privacy.
Why Transparency?
I am a lawyer building policy. I am also considering building toward a political career.
I believe that political ambition should not be hidden behind feigned neutrality. I am writing this legislation because I believe it is necessary infrastructure. I am advocating for it publicly because I want to be the one in the room when these decisions are made. I also do not believe I am the necessary person to sponsor this bill. I would rather be the architect.
The Frame
My politics map to three questions:
Distribution: Who captures the value?
Ownership: Who controls the rails?
Rights: Who counts as real?
The Authentication Cliff forces an answer to the third question. The answer should not be "whoever submits to surveillance." It should be "anyone who is accountable."
That is the infrastructure I am building. If you want to help build it, subscribe.
